Hosta are among the most popular of perennials for shady areas, with hundreds of varieties now readily available. Plants form sturdy mounds of foliage, topped with lily-like blooms. This giant selection has large, heavily corrugated, thick, blue-green leaves early that mature to dark, black-green by early summer. White flowers appear in July. Good slug resistance. Excellent used as a specimen. Protect from hot afternoon sun. Clumps may be easily divided in the spring or fall. A Clarence Owens hybrid of H. sieboldiana ‘Mira’ × H. sieboldiana.
