Cardiocrinum giganteum
Giant Himalayan Lily |
USDA Zone: 7-9 |
Plant number: 1.115.300
This monstrous plant is truly a sight to behold in summer, when the enormous, fragrant white lily flowers appear on stems that can grow more than 10 feet tall. Leaves are large and heart-shaped, forming mostly at the base. Requires semi-shaded, moist woodland conditions. Small side bulbs take several years to reach blooming size, flower and then die, leaving smaller bulbs in their place. A plant this impressive needs the care and attention of an experienced gardener, who can rise to the challenge. Performs best in maritime areas, with a cool summer climate. Watch for slugs.
