Dianthus ‘Whatfield Ruby’
Cheddar Pinks |
USDA Zone: 3-9 |
Plant number: 1.180.730
Cheddar Pinks have been popular in gardens for centuries. This selection forms a low cushion of grassy silver-blue foliage. The single flowers are deep ruby red and bursting with a sweet clove fragrance. An excellent addition to the sunny rock garden, alpine trough or for edging. Plants should be trimmed lightly after blooming to maintain a tight, compact mound. Not always easy to divide, but this can be attempted in spring or early fall. Evergreen. The flower petals of all types of Dianthus are edible.
