Inula ensifolia
Swordleaf Inula |
USDA Zone: 4-9 |
Plant number: 1.293.020
An easy but little-known perennial, ideal for edging the sunny border or growing in the rock garden. This forms a bushy mound of narrow willow-like green leaves, bearing loads of bright-yellow daisies for several weeks. Widely used in European public gardens, often massed among shrubs. Grows well over a wide range of climates including areas with summer heat and humidity. Flowers are attractive to butterflies. Clumps may be divided in the spring. If clumps splay apart towards late summer, just shear them back by half. Sometimes known as Horseheal.
