Lewisia are native to western North America, and one of the most treasured rock garden plants. They form a low, fleshy rosette of tough evergreen leaves, bearing large star-shaped flowers in late spring and early summer. This strain features a wide range of shades, from white to yellow, pink, salmon, rose, orange, red and magenta. Best in a cool rock garden setting, with excellent drainage. In hot summer climates these do best with partial shade. Sure death is to try and grow Lewisia in average border conditions. Drought tolerant once established.
