Lewisia ‘Constant Comment’

Lewisia

USDA Zone: 5-9

Plant number: 1.316.960

Lewisias are native to western North America, and one of the most treasured rock garden plants. They form low, fleshy rosettes of tough evergreen leaves, bearing large star-shaped flowers in late spring and early summer. This selection features clusters of magenta-pink blooms. As these are sterile, flowering continues for much longer into the summer, for months in cool regions. Best in a cool rock garden setting, with excellent drainage. In hot summer climates, these do best with partial shade. Sure death is to try and grow Lewisia in average border conditions. Drought tolerant once established. Quite possibly hardy into Zone 4 or colder. Developed by Burl Mostul from Rare Plant Research.
