Potentilla megalantha
Woolly Cinquefoil |
USDA Zone: 2-9 |
Plant number: 1.440.050
(Formerly Potentilla fragiformis) A superb edging perennial, easy to grow but not often seen in gardens. Plants form a low mound of deep-green, fuzzy leaves with a strawberry-like appearance. Bright yellow rose-like flowers are held just above the clump. Perfect for the sunny rock garden, also nice in mixed containers. May benefit from a hard trim immediately after blooming, to keep the clumps neat and tidy for the rest of the season. Easily divided in spring or early fall. This is one of those plants that begs to be touched.
