Sisyrinchium idahoense var. bellum

Blue-eyed Grass

USDA Zone: 4-9

Plant number: 1.493.050

Native to the western US, this charming plant is valuable in the rock garden as well as for edging in the border. Plants form a low clump of grassy green leaves, bearing starry violet– blue flowers with a tiny golden eye. These are close cousins to the more familiar garden Iris. Will tolerate moist to wet locations. Clumps may be easily divided in fall or early spring. Self-sown seedlings may appear, and these can be moved when they get a few inches tall. A charming plant, and easy to grow.
