Switchgrass is native to North America, now used as a crop for bio-diesel as well as soil conservation, game cover and for its ornamental value. This outstanding selection is extremely durable, standing slightly shorter than other varieties and thriving in less than ideal situations. It forms a dense, upright clump of blue-green foliage. Leaf tips turn purplish-red with the onset of fall. Dark wine flower panicles, turning tan as they mature, appear in late summer. Excellent sturdy performer providing excellent cover for birds during winter months, as a specimen, planted in masses, used as a screen, in large containers and at water’s edge. Attractive all year.
