Stipa gigantea

Giant Feather Grass

USDA Zone: 6-9

Plant number: 8.350.100

Giant Feather Grass is a spectacular plant for the sunny garden. It prefers regions with cool summers and mild winters. Plants form a clump of grey-green foliage at the base, bearing very tall, arching stems of tan flower spikes through the summer months, lasting well into winter. Evergreen in mild regions. Best used as a specimen plant, surrounded by a low groundcover. Also suitable for containers. Clumps should be pruned back hard in early spring before new growth resumes. Easily divided in early spring, if desired. Plants dislike wet winters, so a well-drained soil is best.
