Chrysogonum virginianum

Golden Star

USDA Zone: 5-9

Plant number: 1.152.050

Also known as Green and Gold. Native to the Eastern United States, this is an easy-to-grow wildflower most often used as a groundcover in moist, shady sites. Plants form a low spreading mound of dark green leaves, studded in spring with small star-shaped bright yellow flowers. While not a showy plant, it is much in demand for groundcover use in many parts of the country. Combines beautifully with Hostas, ferns and other plants that appreciate moist, shady sites. Easily divided in the spring or early fall. Evergreen in mild winter areas.
