Aster asperulus

Himalayan Fall Aster

USDA Zone: 4-9

Plant number: 1.085.030

This is a species of Aster just recently introduced, native to the Himalayas. It forms a low, bushy mound of large heart-shaped green leaves, bearing sprays of good-sized mauve-blue daisies in late summer and autumn. Nice near the front of a border, or in mixed containers. Appreciates moist, rich soil. Easily increased by dividing in the spring. Attracts butterflies. Performance in cold regions has not been determined yet: quite possibly hardy to Zone 4 or colder.
