A true alpine species of Bellflower, this is best suited to the rock garden, alpine trough garden or gravel scree. It forms a low tuft or mound of small green leaves, bearing short upright stems that hold flaring violet-blue bells in late spring and early summer. Grows well in rock crevices or walls. Not a good choice for the perennial border. Forms a deep taproot, so dislikes being divided or moved. Best increased by seed or by cuttings. Most likely hardy in Zone 4 or colder.
