Primula rosea ‘Gigas’

Pink Bog Primrose

USDA Zone: 5-9

Plant number: 1.445.290

Also known as Himalayan Meadow Primrose. An early-blooming species, this grows best at the waterside or a similar position with rich and heavy moist to wet soil. Loose clusters or umbels of bright magenta-pink blooms are held on stems above a rosette of newly expanding leaves. Most effective in groups, combining well with Marsh Marigolds, ferns and other moisture lovers. Will tolerate more sun in cool regions. A good candidate for a special bog garden. This is not likely to grow well in average border conditions. Possibly hardy to Zone 4 or below if snow cover is reliable. Clumps may be divided after flowering, if desired. Deciduous in winter.
