Rudbeckia grandiflora ‘Sundance’

Tall Coneflower

USDA Zone: 4-9

Plant number: 1.455.330

Also known as Rough Coneflower, this species is native across much of the Eastern USA and Canada but not yet known in most gardens. It forms a bushy, upright mound of green leaves, with interesting parasol-shaped blooms that have droopy yellow petals surrounding a brown cone. Plants flower in late summer and well into the autumn. A magnet to butterflies. Great for cutting. Best in average to moist soil and a sunny location. Seedheads may be left for winter interest if desired. Cut plants back to the ground in early spring. Introduced in 2008 by Jelitto Seeds of Germany.
