Saponaria × olivana

Cushion Soapwort

USDA Zone: 4-9

Plant number: 1.470.120

This little treasure forms a tight cushioned dome of bright-green leaves, bursting into flower in late spring with bright-pink starry flowers arranged in a circle around the edge of the mound. A true alpine, this requires a sunny, well-drained rock garden or gravel scree. Also nice in troughs or other containers. Unlike many Soapworts, this hybrid will not overgrow and swamp out everything around it. Plants may be easily divided in late summer or early spring. Drought tolerant once established. Evergreen.
