Hosta are among the most popular of perennials for shady areas, with hundreds of varieties now readily available. Plants form sturdy mounds of foliage, topped with lily-like blooms. This unusual selection has crimson stems with some red colouring continuing up the narrow, shiny green leaves . Deep lavender flowers appear in July. Of great interest to Hosta collectors for its breeding potential. Discovered growing wild in Japan by Toshiro Shimizu.
