Dianthus barbatus ‘Noverna Purple’

Sweet William

USDA Zone: 5-9

Plant number: 1.185.400

Sweet William is an old-fashioned cottage garden plant that usually grows as a self seeding biennial. This midsized strain produces a mound of dark green leaves, bearing big clusters of bright magenta-purple flowers for weeks on end. One of the few selections known to bloom in the first year. Excellent as a cut flower. Remove fading flowers to encourage more buds to form. Pruning plants back hard after blooming will encourage them to survive for another year. Self-sown seedlings may be moved in fall or early spring. 2001 Fleuroselect Gold Medal winner.
