Helleborus × sternii

STERN′S Hellebore

USDA Zone: 6-9

Plant number: 1.256.350

Highly valued in milder regions, for their winter effect in the garden. This hybrid forms a clump of deeply cut leathery foliage, grey-green in colour. Upright sprays of nodding, cup-shaped greenish flowers appear in early spring, flushed with purple. Performs best in regions with a mild maritime climate. Gardeners in colder climates would be wise to mulch around the base of the clump with leaves in very late fall. Plants should be trimmed only right after blooming, if at all. Plants prefer some direct sun with protection from afternoon heat. CAUTION: Harmful if eaten/Skin irritant.
