Hypericum androsaemum ‘Albury Purple’

Purple St. John’s-Wort

USDA Zone: 5-9

Plant number: 1.280.010

This is a beautiful dusky-purple leaved selection of a semi-evergreen, bushy species. Plants have an upright habit, bearing contrasting yellow flowers in mid-summer followed by ornamental clusters of berries that change from pink to red to black. Excellent in cut bouquets. Beautiful autumn effect. Cut back to 8 inches in spring, since the best leaf colour is displayed on new growth. A wonderful contrast plant for containers and tubs, worth growing even where not hardy. A winter mulch is recommended in Zones 5 and 6.
