Lobelia ‘Queen Victoria’

Cardinal Flower

USDA Zone: 7-9

Plant number: 1.328.050

The perennial Lobelias have upright spikes of large flowers, not at all like the more familiar trailing types grown in hanging baskets. They are terrific plants for the boggy garden, adapting well to ‘wet feet', but growing equally well under average conditions. This popular heirloom selection has beautiful beet-red foliage, with contrasting scarlet-orange flowers from midsummer on. Excellent for using as a specimen or massing in the border, containers or tubs. Nice for cutting. Attractive to both butterflies and hummingbirds. Generally not long-lived. Received a Royal Horticultural Society Award of Garden Merit (1993). CAUTION: Harmful if eaten.
