Lysimachia punctata

Yellow Loosestrife

USDA Zone: 2-9

Plant number: 1.340.150

Not to be confused with the noxious weed Purple Loosestrife (Lythrum salicaria). This is a vigorous species that has been grown in gardens since Victorian times. Plants form a bushy, fast-spreading clump of green leaves, with loose spikes of bright-yellow starry flowers appearing in early to mid summer. In the border this will need to be reduced in size every year or two in order to keep from taking over. Tolerates shade under trees, with regular summer watering. Attractive to butterflies. Nice for cutting.
