Closely related to Sedum, this is a succulent low-growing alpine plant that forms a clump. The rosettes of grey-green leaves trap and hold water droplets in a charming way. Sprays of tiny white to soft-pink flowers appear in summer. A nice edging or groundcover plant, particularly for hot, dry sites. Excellent in the rock garden and in alpine troughs. Easily divided in the spring. In mild regions this may remain evergreen in winter. Native to Iran, and often listed as Sedum pachyclados.
