Stachys macrantha ‘Rosea’

Big Betony

USDA Zone: 2-9

Plant number: 1.495.150

(Sometimes listed as S. grandiflora) Big Betony is a close cousin to the well-known Lamb's-Ears, but not similar at all. Plants form a bushy mound of crinkly green leaves, with showy upright spikes of rose-pink flowers in summer. Beautiful in the border, or beside a stream. Good for cutting. Also worth trying in tubs or mixed containers. Plants may be easily divided in early spring. Seems to require a rich, moist soil. Remove faded flowers regularly to encourage more buds to form. Clip back hard immediately after flowering, to tidy plants up for the rest of the season.
