Stokesia laevis ‘Klaus Jelitto’
Stokes’ Aster |
USDA Zone: 5-9 |
Plant number: 1.505.130
This is a recent selection of a North American native wildflower, and a wonderful addition to the sunny border. Flowers are a little like a huge, double Shasta Daisy in effect, but soft blue in colour. Plants form a low mound of leathery green leaves, remaining evergreen in mild winter areas. Tolerant of hot, humid summer regions. Great for cutting, and also attractive to butterflies. This needs good drainage, particularly in the winter, so a raised bed or rock garden might suit it well. Also a good candidate for mixed containers. Remove faded flowers to encourage more buds.
