Carex morrowii Evercolor® Everglow

Sedge

USDA Zone: 5-9

Plant number: 8.090.870

Sedges are grass-like plants, mostly preferring sites with moist, rich soil. This selection from the Evercolor® series forms a low cascading clump of leathery leaves with a distinctive green central stripe and orange margins from early fall to late winter, fading to a more cream variegation from spring to summer. Brownish flowers are insignificant. A choice plant for edging, or in the rock garden. This is a well-behaved plant. If the tips of the leaves get wind-burn over the winter, they may be trimmed with scissors in the spring. Clumps may be divided in early spring. Tolerates dry shade with occasional watering. Evergreen. Pat Fitzgerald, of Fitzgerald Nurseries, Ltd. in Ireland, developed this fun series out of old favorite, C. oshimensis ‘Evergold’. USPPP: unlicensed propagation prohibited.
