Fragaria vesca ‘Rugen’
Alpine Strawberry
USDA Zone: 2-9
Plant number: 1.218.050
Known as “Fraises des Bois” in France, this is the European Wild Strawberry. Clumps do not make runners, so these are well-behaved plants suitable for edging, in the rock garden or in containers. Tiny white flowers appear all season, followed by small cone-shaped fruit, the tastiest of all strawberries. Always a hit with visitors and children. Both edible and ornamental.
