Pampas Grass is one of the most spectacular ornamental grasses, forming a large evergreen clump with tall plumes of white flowers in autumn that last for months. This is probably the hardiest form known, with cascading blue-green leaves and midsized stems of white flowers. Plumes and leaves are both great for cutting. Remove any dead leaves in spring, wearing goggles and thick gloves for protection. Introduced by the late Lois Woodhull of The Plantage, originally selected from seed she wild-collected in South America. May even survive in Zone 5 in a sheltered spot.
