Silver & Gold Chrysanthemum |
USDA Zone: 5-9 |
Plant number: 1.029.050
(Formerly Chrysanthemum pacificum) This Japanese species forms a bushy mound of lobed green leaves, attractively edged with silver, remaining attractive all season long. Small yellow button flowers appear very late in the fall, sometimes lasting until Christmas. Superb as a foliage plant in the border, or in containers. Very tolerant of summer heat and humidity. Nice as a cut flower. Deserves to be better known. Plants may be kept especially compact, if desired, by pinching the growth in June or July. Easily divided in early spring.
