Hemerocallis citrina
Citron Daylily |
USDA Zone: 2-9 |
Plant number: 1.257.120
With the thousands of hybrid selections that are now available, the species Daylilies have become sadly neglected. This is a very fragrant, evening blooming species, with large, grapefruit-yellow flowers that are held on tall stems above a sizable clump of dark green, grassy leaves. Consider planting near an outdoor sitting area, in order to enjoy the sweet scent. Useful also as a cut flower. Plants do not usually require dividing for several years, but are easily split apart in fall or early spring. Spent flower stems can be trimmed back after flowers are finished. Remove old foliage in late fall.
