Lilium Oriental red selection
Oriental Lily |
USDA Zone: 4-9 |
Plant number: 1.319.150
Oriental Lilies are later to bloom than other types, with intoxicatingly fragrant star-shaped flowers that are superb for cutting. ‘Stargazer’ is the most well-known selection, used often by florists for wedding bouquets. They prefer a rich, moist soil on the acidic side, with similar needs to Rhododendrons. This is a taller selection with red flowers. Plants may need staking to prevent flopping over. Clumps should be dug up every few years in late fall, the bulbs separated and replanted in a new site. Remove dead stems in the fall.
