Miscanthus sinensis ‘Encore’

Maiden Grass

USDA Zone: 5-9

Plant number: 8.270.720

There are many varieties of Miscanthus now available. This outstanding selection from Walters Gardens, Inc. was selected and hybridized for its flowering performance earlier in the season. Perfect for more northern climates where the growing season is shorter. Due to its early flowering, it can provide coppery-purple plumes in late summer to early fall and repeating into mid fall, remaining until first frost. Plumes turn creamy tan as they mature. The plant forms a tall, upright clump of dark green leaves with white midribs. Useful as a specimen, in the border, as a screen or for mass planting. Cut back to 4 inches in late winter or leave until early spring if you enjoy the interest they add to the winter garden. USPP#29070: unlicensed propagation prohibited.
