Origanum laevigatum ‘Hopley′s Purple’
Ornamental Oregano |
USDA Zone: 6-9 |
Plant number: 1.400.931
A very popular variety of Ornamental Oregano, one of several now becoming available in North America. This selection features long wands of purple-pink flowers in late summer and fall, over a trailing mound of fragrant, green foliage that turns reddish-purple in fall. The flowers hold their colour when dried and are very attractive to butterflies and beneficial insects. Useful in the sunny border, for edging and in tubs and mixed containers. Lovely weaving in and around neighbouring plants. Very tough. Heat and drought tolerant, once established. May be easily divided in early spring.
