Patrinia scabiosifolia

Yellow Patrinia

USDA Zone: 4-9

Plant number: 1.403.500

Native to Japan and Korea, Yellow Patrinia is an attractive filler for the summer perennial border. Plants form bushy upright clumps of ferny leaves, bearing dill-like umbels of bright yellow flowers for weeks on end. A nice contrast to Summer Phlox and other more substantial flowers. The tall stems are excellent for cutting and last well indoors. Flowers are attractive to butterflies. Tolerates summer heat and humidity well. Clumps may be easily divided in early spring. Unfortunately, Patrinia is an alternate host for Daylily Rust, a recently introduced fungal disease that is quickly spreading across many parts of North America. For this reason we recommend that gardeners do not plant Patrinia and perhaps even consider removing and destroying existing clumps before the disease has a chance to develop in your region and spread to nearby plantings of Daylilies (Hemerocallis).
