An unusual little alpine plant, this forms a low evergreen cushion of finely divided, almost ferny light-green leaves, splashed and streaked with creamy white. Short sprays of tiny greenish-white flowers may appear in late spring, but this is mainly a foliage plant. Attractive in a trough garden, gravel scree or rock garden. Requires evenly moist but well drained soil. Protect from afternoon sun, best in all-day dappled shade. In cold regions, cover in winter with evergreen branches to protect from drying winds. Possibly hardy to Zone 4 or colder. Sometimes known as Saxifraga trifurcata 'Variegata'.
