It forms a low cushion or mound of shiny bright-green leaves, bearing short stems of red buds that open into upfacing, star-shaped rose-pink flowers in spring. Requires a cool, moist location. Dislikes drought and hot humid summer weather. Trim lightly after flowering. Evergreen.
