Yucca filamentosa ‘Color Guard’
Variegated Adam’s Needle |
USDA Zone: 4-9 |
Plant number: 1.575.250
Adam’s Needle is a terrific plant for problem sunny areas with dry soil. It forms a large, evergreen rosette of leathery sword-shaped leaves, grey-green in colour with a buttery yellow centre. Takes on coral tones in winter. When mature, the rosettes produce a very tall spike loaded with large creamy-white flowers in late summer. An excellent specimen plant for difficult sites. Clumps may need dividing after 5 to 6 years — goggles and gloves are advised. Generally does not require any pruning. Remove faded flower stems to the base after blooming, in late summer.
