Here's the complete description for this Heritage Perennial. Drop in any time to see the rest of our collection.

 Plant Number: 1.088.010USDA Zone: 3 - 9
Astilboides tabularis
Common name :  Shieldleaf Rodgersia
An unusual perennial, formerly known as Rodgersia tabularis, but now given a name of its own by botanists. This forms a large specimen-sized mound of deep green circular, umbrella-like leaves. Big creamy white plumes of Astilbe-like flowers make an appearance in early summer. Best in a very moist area, even beside a stream or pond. In hot, humid summer regions this is best in partial shade. Will tolerate full sun with plenty of moisture and a rich soil. Excellent for cutting. Plants may be divided in early spring. A bold specimen plant, very dramatic when happy!

What others say about this plant...
This might be described as the poor man's Gunnera. The great circular slightly lobed leaves… are 3 feet wide and of light green. The leaf stalk supports the middle of the leaf. The white-cream flowers are most conspicuous in contrast, borne well aloft, to 5 feet. A superb plant.; Graham Stuart Thomas, Perennial Garden Plants
