Azorella trifurcata ‘Nana’

Cushion Bolax

USDA Zone: 4-9

Plant number: 1.093.100

This bizarre plant looks soft and feathery in appearance but actually has a hard, brittle texture. It slowly creeps to form a bun or cushion, at home in the rock garden, alpine trough or in paving cracks. Tiny yellow flowers appear in summer. Requires excellent drainage: consider growing with a mulch of pea-gravel. Performs especially well in an alpine scree garden. Evergreen. Proving to be hardier than expected, possibly good to Zone 3 or colder, though native to the Falkland Islands. Also known as Bolax glebaria
