Here's the complete description for this Heritage Perennial. Drop in any time to see the rest of our collection.

 Plant Number: 1.125.040USDA Zone: 3 - 9
Centaurea hypoleuca ‘John Coutts’
Common name :  Cornflower
The perennial cornflowers are cousins to the common Bachelor's Button, with showy heads of shaggy flowers. This selection is medium in height and well suited to growing in the sunny border. Plants form a bushy clump of grey-green divided leaves, setting off a long display of lavender-pink flowers, beginning in early summer. Removing faded flower heads will encourage repeat blooming. Ruggedly hardy, this plant will grow in most types of soils and climate regions. May require staking if grown in rich conditions. Excellent for cutting.

What others say about this plant...
It has a running root — not unduly invasive — and long broad leaves, deeply lobed, soft green above and grey-white underneath. The flowers are borne singly on stout stalks and are of a rich deep rose; a second crop is produced in early autumn; in fact, with good cultivation it is seldom out of flower. The seed-heads are like silvery daisies.; Graham Stuart Thomas, Perennial Garden Plants
