| Also called Grey Broom. A bizarre but beautiful perennial seldom seen in gardens. Plants form a mound of soft, felty silver-grey leaves. Large clusters of soft pink to white pea-like flowers appear during mid to late summer, followed by shiny brownish-red seedpods. Actually an evergreen shrub, this needs little maintenance. Requires excellent drainage; consider growing in the sunny rock garden or a raised bed. Plants cannot be divided: best to propagate by seeds or cuttings. Sometimes classified as Lotus hirsutus.
