Here's the complete description for this Heritage Perennial. Drop in any time to see the rest of our collection.

 Plant Number: 1.317.740USDA Zone: 3 - 9
Ligularia przewalskii
Common name :  Shavalski's Ligularia
Sometimes called Elephant Ears, this is a bold specimen perennial that needs a moist location. It forms a clump of large, jagged-edged green leaves. Tall stems rise above in summer, bearing long narrow spikes of bright-yellow daisy flowers. Superb for the back of the border, or at the waterside. An unusual centerpiece for a tub or large container. Both the flowers and leaves are great for cutting. Slugs can be troublesome. Clumps may be divided in the spring, every 3 to 4 years. Quite similar to 'The Rocket' but for some slight flower differences. Best with afternoon shade.

What others say about this plant...
Gorgeous! Purple-black stems bear large deep green leaves that look like fingers radiating from a hand. They are very attractive in their own right, but then the tall, narrow spikes of light yellow flowers come and steal the show from early summer to midsummer.; Larry Hodgson, Perennials for Every Purpose
