Here's the complete description for this Heritage Perennial. Drop in any time to see the rest of our collection.

 Plant Number: 1.373.050USDA Zone: 5 - 9
Nectaroscordum siculum
Common name :  Sicilian Honey Garlic
Honey Garlic is related to the Flowering Onions (Allium), forming a low mound of grassy-looking leaves with a garlic scent. Tall stems are produced in late spring, bearing a showy cluster of bell-shaped blossoms, each flower shaded with green, white and reddish-purple. Excellent for cutting. Plants will go dormant by late summer, so plant these close to something that will mound and flower in late summer, to fill in the gap. Bulbs will gradually increase over time, and clumps may be safely divided as soon as the leaves turn brown in summer, or later in the fall. Unique and bizarre!

What others say about this plant...
This Allium relative gets to stay in my garden because of the rigid stems of sophisticated, molasses-striped, beige bells it produces in springtime. If I accidentally break or bruise a bud or leaf when digging nearby, I soon regret it as the gassy odor makes me gag.; Thomas Hobbs, The Jewel Box Garden
