PerennialHeritage Perennial Profile

Here's the complete description for this Heritage Perennial. Drop in any time to see the rest of our collection.

 Plant Number: 1.406.650USDA Zone: 5 - 9
Persicaria virginiana ‘Painter’s Palette’
Common name :  Painter's Palette Tovara
(Formerly Tovara) This is grown for its colourful foliage. Leaves are variegated with cream and green, with an unusual V-shaped chocolate-brown marking. Beautiful when massed as a groundcover, used as a specimen plant, or included in mixed containers. Airy deep-pink spikes of flowers appear in fall and are delightfully graceful. Plants are usually late to come up in the spring, so be patient. Seedlings often appear, but only a portion of these will hold true to the parent. In areas with mild climates this can grow to be fairly tall.

What others say about this plant...
When I first saw this plant, I thought I'd died and gone to plant heaven! It forms a dense dome of large, oval, pointed green leaves that are heavily and irregularly marbled with cream. Each leaf bears a large V-shaped marking that is deep maroon on the green part of the leaf and bright rose over a variegated section.; Larry Hodgson, Perennials for Every Purpose
