Here's the complete description for this Heritage Perennial. Drop in any time to see the rest of our collection.

 Plant Number: 1.409.300USDA Zone: 5 - 9
Phlomis russeliana
Common name :  Sticky Jerusalem Sage
The most widely-grown species of Phlomis, this forms an upright clump of slightly sticky fresh-green heart-shaped leaves. Strange little hooded flowers are grouped together around the stem into large ball-shaped clusters of creamy yellow, arranged towards the top of the plant in tiers or layers. Excellent for cutting fresh or drying. This requires very good drainage, particularly during wet winter. Plants tend to spread by underground rhizomes but this is easily controlled by dividing every two to three years in spring. Lower leaves remain evergreen in mild winter regions.

What others say about this plant...
A handsome plant whose rough large leaves make an excellent ground-cover up to 1 foot. The flower-stems are stout and bear several whorls of soft butter-yellow hooded flowers, which make a pleasing contrast to the blue geraniums, such as G. pratense. The statuesque stems last in beauty through the winter.; Graham Stuart Thomas, Perennial Garden Plants
