Here's the complete description for this Heritage Perennial. Drop in any time to see the rest of our collection.

 Plant Number: 1.418.100USDA Zone: 5 - 9
Phuopsis stylosa
Common name :  Creeping Crosswort
Crosswort is seldom encountered in gardens but this is useful for dry sites. It spreads to form a dense mat of bright green leaves, loaded with clusters of bright pink flowers in early summer. Tolerates poor soils and hot sites, and can be a useful groundcover for slopes or other difficult sites. Cut back hard after blooming to encourage more buds to form in late summer. Attractive, but smells like a skunk so this may need careful placement. Easily divided in early spring.

What others say about this plant...
For the verge of a border or bed this is a worthwhile plant in spite of the strong smell. Flopping stems are covered with narrow foliage, and the dense heads of tiny pink flowers are produced for a long period.; Graham Stuart Thomas, Perennial Garden Plants
