PerennialHeritage Perennial Profile

Here's the complete description for this Heritage Perennial. Drop in any time to see the rest of our collection.

 Plant Number: 1.460.050USDA Zone: 3 - 9
Sagina subulata
Common name :  Irish Moss
An extremely popular groundcover plant, this forms a very low moss-like carpet of bright shamrock-green foliage. Tiny little white flowers begin to appear in late spring. Excellent for filling in between the cracks of flagstone paving, in the rock garden or as a lawn substitute. Dislikes both drought and soggy wet soils. Easily divided in early spring or fall, by ripping up the clump into smaller pieces. In hot, humid summer regions this sometimes melts out and becomes unattractive in mid summer, usually reviving in the fall. Not a good choice for full shade. Evergreen.
