| This species is a little-known plant, but offers a pleasant splash of colour in the rock garden or edge of a sunny border in early summer. It forms a low tuft or mound of dark-green leaves, bearing chunky spikes of bicolour flowers in many combinations of soft yellow, white, pink, rose or lavender-blue. This prefers a neutral to alkaline soil, or the addition of lime to acidic soils. Remove faded flowers after blooming. Clumps may be easily divided in spring or fall. Flowers are attractive to butterflies. Self sows without being weedy.
