Lonicera sempervirens ‘Alabama Crimson’
Trumpet Honeysuckle |
USDA Zone: 4-9 |
Plant number: 7.778.050
Trumpet Honeysuckle is a native vine that needs a trellis or pole in order to climb. This selection features clusters of crimson and yellow flowers in late spring, then off and on until frost. Although not fragrant, the flowers are very attractive to hummingbirds. Foliage is blue-green in colour, remaining attractive well into the winter. May also be grown as a spreading groundcover. Prune back hard every 2 to 3 years in order to force dense growth from the base. Aphids sometimes are a problem, so watch for signs of infestation beginning in early summer.
