Aconitum fischeri
Azure Monkshood |
USDA Zone: 5-9 |
Plant number: 1.015.220
Monkshood are wonderful old-fashioned perennials, perfectly suited for border plantings. This selection flowers from late summer to early fall featuring striking upright spikes of lavender-blue flowers. Each flower is shaped like a hood, thus the common name. The deeply-cut leaves are glossy and dark green. Strong stems so should not require staking. Plants prefer a site that will not dry out in summer, away from thirsty tree roots. In hot summer areas, this will need protection from the afternoon sun. CAUTION: toxic if eaten/harmful via skin.
